The CVHS held its Veterans Day program on November 12th. The program opened with the Pledge of Allegiance “ led by VFW Vice Commander Balliet, followed by the playing of the National Anthem by Frank Balon. The guest speaker was Tom Chegwidden, a six year Navy veteran stationed on the USS Kitty Hawk, during the Vietnam War. He spoke of the meaning of Veterans Day and of his time of service as well as that of his family’s service experiences.
The winners of the essay contest were recognized and the first place essay was read. The program closed with the playing of “Taps” by Frank Balon. Visitors were able to view the extensive collection of WW I artillery and artifacts owned by CVHS member, Nathan Yost and enjoy some light refreshments.
